Spring is in the Air

Surprise Mrs. Leo!

On Friday our class was able to co-host a Surprise Baby Shower, for Mrs. Leo. Her Grade 4's came to me a few weeks ago, asking if we could help plan this surprise for her. We celebrated and shared treats with one another, in honour of Baby Leo. Mrs. Leo was very thankful.

Let's End the Stigma! World Autism Awareness Day ~ April 1, 2014

Thanks to Lynn, as she has sent the above link to share with the Siena community.  Western students share their stories and personal experiences. Please take a peek.

Join us this Thursday April 3rd.

Religion
We will begin to prepare for Holy Week. As our class will lead in the Liturgy about the Stations of the Cross, on Thursday April 17, 2014.

Math
Our next unit is Chapter 9: Multiplying Greater Numbers. This is a fairly short unit which we will be extending and applying the multiplication skills from Chapter 6, to multiply 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 digit. Students are encouraged to continue to practice multiplication skills and drills, as I predict division in the near future. ;)

Language
We will continue to learn and practice persuasive writing at school. For extra practice, have your child write a persuasive letter using any of the following ideas.

Persuasive Writing Prompts:
Eating Ice Cream everyday
Video Games
Technology in school (iPads in the classroom)
Vending Machines in school
Being a Fit Kid
School Uniforms
Topic of your choice

Physical Education

We have been having so much fun in phys.ed. We have been working on basketball skills, co-operative games and soon will begin our dance unit. :)

Easter Food Drive
The Siena Easter food drive will run from April 7-16, 2014. Remember, every little bit helps.

Have an excellent week everyone. So thrilled that spring is finally in the air.
