Thursday Update

Happy Wednesday!

Thank You

Oh boy, our students were spoiled today. :) Thanks to Mme. & Miss. Martins for the treats they provided this morning. Thank you to Mrs. Rigato and our Kindergarten buddies for a wonderful picnic and teddy bear snacks. Lastly, thank you to Gabby and the Harrison family for providing a Surprise Pizza Lunch for us today.

Ice Cream Party

Tomorrow is our Ice Cream Party. The Grade 4's have worked extremely hard this year and especially this past month, that they have filled our marble jar and earned their party tomorrow.

Movie Afternoon

It has been decided that tomorrow, the students will have a movie afternoon. Now, a Grade 6 student came by to take a tally about how many students wanted a PJ day as well, and ofcoarse, most hands went up. Now, because it was short notice and Mr. Cocurullo needed to "okay" this decision, the teachers thought a movie afternoon was special enough.

I told the students to check the blog to look for an update on this decision,so here it is, please relay the message that tomorrow is a regular uniform day and IT'S NOT PJ DAY!

Update

Last week in Review

What a wonderful week, first we had our field trip to Spencer Lodge, then Play Day, our year end mass, the talent show and then the highlight of my week...my very first Baby Shower.I have never been so touched by the love and preparation from my students. What a well organized and fun baby shower. Thank you to all my Grade 4's, Mrs. Petrenko and to all the parents for all your thoughtful wishes, delicious treats and gifts that you have showered Baby Dwyer with.

Here are few pictures from this past week. :)

Spencer Lodge ~ Squirrel & Acorns Adventure

If you look really closely, it's Mr. McIntyre filming himself.

Way to go, Mrs. Petrenko!

Baby Shower Celebration

Some of the students put together a thoughtful power point presentation, but I was unable to upload to the blog. It was extremely sweet. They had written me a letter, came up with many baby names and some baby books that they had read as children.

Thank you so much for a lovely day!

Come and Watch Us Dance! :)

A little late, I know, but yesterday the students came up with the idea of adding a little sparkle to our costumes. Whether it be in their hair or a little sparkly eye shadow, is fine for our "Frozen" performance. Please don't think this is mandatory, just a little brainstorming took place.
We hope to see you out this morning. We are all so excited.

June 2nd - June 6th

 What's Happening this Week

Family Life/Religion ~ This week we have learned about the importance of commitment in life and in relationships, along with learning how to live in God's world.  Next week, we will be learning about how each person is precious and is made in the image and likeness of God.

*Please see the note that will go home Thursday with your children for further description of this last theme.*

Math ~ This week we will be wrapping up our fractions and decimals unit. We will be having our test on Tuesday June 10th.

Health ~ We have been learning about smoke, it's long-term/short-term effects and choices we can make to better our well being, along with the people around us.

Science ~ This week we will begin to explore the world of Rocks and Minerals. Needless to say, there are many boys in our class, who have been looking forward to this unit for most of the year.

Language/Media/Technology ~ The grade 4's have begun the planning of their very own magazine creation.  The students will create a magazine that reflects themselves on their cover, in their feature article, a self-help article about substance abuse (smoking) and two other articles of their choice.  This magazine will be completed entirely on the computer. They will use a program that they are most comfortable using.  (i.e.Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Comic Life 2 etc.)  The students will have two periods to work on their magazines Thursday and hopefully will be importing pictures of themselves or of their liking next Tuesday, when we have our last two computer periods.

* My apologies to those of you who have been waiting and requesting your USB's. I know Madam is hoping to download the grade 4 plays on the students USB, so we are hoping this is okay t
o keep it until the end of the month. This also makes it easier when the students are working with the Microsoft surfaces or on projects such as their Media assignment. Please let me know if there is any concern or if you would like your USB sooner than the end of the month.  Many thanks.

Phys. Ed ~ We are in the process of completing our dance fest dance. Please see the following for costumes and accessories.

Dance Fest Update

Dear Grade 4 Parents,
The time has come for the Siena Dance Fest. The students have worked so hard during rehearsals this last month and are counting down the days until we perform.  We will be performing in the Siena gymnasium at 10:30 a.m.

We have discussed their attire/costumes for Friday and have come up with the following;

Tops: Plain white shirts that follow the guidelines of school dress code. If students don’t have plain white shirts, our school shirt will suffice.
Bottoms: Blue jeans; shorts, skirts, skorts. If students don’t have jeans, students can wear the blue uniform pants, skirts etc.

Accessories
Boys: White hats; if the boys do not have plain white hats then, hats with logos are acceptable.
Girls: The grade 4 girls are to wear their hair up in a pony-tail or a bun, as Mrs. Petrenko has purchased white, sparkly ribbon to go in their hair.
Shoes: White shoes or running shoes. Please no flip flops as we would not want the students fall during our performance.

       Many thanks,
Mrs. Dwyer, Mrs. Petrenko & Mr. McIntyre
